I Have Run and I Have Crawled
©1977 Andrew Calhoun, recorded on Staring at the Sun.
I have run and I have crawled
And I have come when I’ve been called
A mirror spoke into a face
Said, “I wish I was born some other place”
Strange to see you in my head
You’ve been such a long time dead
I’ve been tortured, I’ve been cut
I’ve been walking down the highway with my eyes shut
Well you know we done the best we could
But there’s still one back in the woods
It was cold outside last night
And the last dog home cried with all his might
I have run and I have crawled
And I have come when I’ve been called
