I Have Not Lost it All

©1977 Andrew Calhoun, recorded on Water Street.

I'm getting tired of people who forget what they forgot
And I'm quickly cut by people who don't know if they love me or not
I suspect I lost a summer, for I woke up late in Fall
And I may have lost my childhood, but I have not lost it all

My face is hot and itchy, and my mind is full of trash
My days are filled with poison, and my coat is caked with ash
I keep myself too lonely, other people make me small
And I might forget my freedom, but I have not lost it all

I loved a girl, I loved a girl
I swear I loved a girl
And I should not be ashamed for there must be room to fail
I may have lost my love, but I have not lost it all

With thumbs in my eyes and a jellyroll head
I still won't believe I'd be better off dead
When my soul has lost its glory, O hear my spirit call
I may have lost a moment, but I have not lost it all
