Christ Comes Like the Spring Bud

©2011 Andrew Calhoun, recording here from 2018.

Christ comes like the spring bud,
Christ comes newborn;
One who dies that you may live,
That says "Love, wonder, and forgive."

Christ comes like the Tiger,
With claws as sharp as Truth;
Stalking through the Halls of Fame
With bloodlust in his tooth.

Christ comes like the dun fawn,
Birthing on the flood plain;
Leaping through a wall of dust,
Carrying the bloodstain.

The song is rich, the thing is good;
The answer's in the making.
Of course we fail the final test:
Of course we are mistaken.

Christ comes like the spring bud,
Christ comes newborn:
One who dies that you may live
Says "Love, wonder, and forgive."
