PRODUCTION NOTES: We've been doing this very moving show for several years, integrating antebellum spirituals ("Wake Up Jacob," "Run Mary Run," "One More River to Cross," "Go Down Moses," etc) with readings from The Fugitive Blacksmith by James W.C. Pennington, Frederick Douglass' autobiography, and the true story of the woman's fateful crossing of the Ohio as dramatized by Harriet Beecher Stowe in Uncle Tom's Cabin as "Eliza Crossing the Ice." Story adapted by permission from Fergus Bordewich's "Bound for Canaan."
